I think portion sizing is one of our biggest problems as people have no concept of what an appropriate portion of food looks like - restaurants etc. can help to change this.

Provision of small or half portions

3. Do you agree that consumers should routinely have easy access to small or half portions?

Please explain your answer.
Personally I would often prefer a smaller portion or feel unable to finish a portion, if small or half portions were available I feel that many people would make use of them. This could also tie in to the later question about children's menus - if small or half portions of the main menu items were available then this would remove the need for a childs menu and offer them the same range of healthier options available to adults.

Calorie labelling at the point of choice

4. Should calorie labelling at the point of choice* apply in Scotland?

Please explain your answer.
I think it would be helpful for consumers to see and have an idea of the calories in an item, where this is shown on menus I would take it into considerations when ordering. I think the information should be included - certainly on packaging and labels, on menus I think the information should be there but not be too obtrusive so as not to spoil the occasion of a meal out (which is still an occasion for many people!)

5. As a food business, would MenuCal help you to provide calorie labelling?

Please explain your answer.
As a residential outdoor centre most food is provided in a "help yourself" setting, so I'm not sure how we would do this.

6. As a food business, what additional support would you require to provide calorie labelling?

Please explain your answer
unsure!
