Consultation on Market Authorisation of a Traditional Food Bambara Groundnuts
Overview
Food Standards Scotland (FSS) are seeking stakeholder views in relation to a traditional food from a third country.
This consultation seeks stakeholder's views, comments, and feedback in relation to the traditional food considered in this document. A traditional food notification of intention to place on the market Bambara groundnut (seeds and seed flour of Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.) was submitted under Article 14 of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 (“the Novel Food Regulations”), Notification of a traditional food from a third country. FSS did not raise any safety objections, therefore, the Minister must authorise.
This consultation will be of interest to:
All Scottish food and feed businesses, Local Authorities and other stakeholders with an interest in food safety. A list of interested parties is included in Annex A of the consultation pack.
A separate parallel consultation is published by Food Standards Agency (FSA) England and Wales for England and Wales.
Why your views matter
This consultation provides the opportunity for stakeholders to comment and express views on the conditions for use and specific labelling requirements in the terms of authorisation of the traditional food from a third country. FSS will take stakeholders’ feedback into account and inform the Scottish Ministers of stakeholders’ views before Ministers decide on the authorisation.
